The ancestors of the British Isles are usually referred to as Celts.

In fact, they were a separate culture and identy known as The Pretani!

With a growing acknowledgement of cultural appropriation of indigenous cultures around the world, there is a growing call for those of us from these isles to rediscover our own practices.

We feel the draw to return to the old ways.

Ways of honouring the land, our ancestors, the spirits of the wild places.

Through exploration of the clues left to us by our Iron Age Ancient Briton ancestors, and through deep listening to the land, we can find our way back to our roots, while forging a new path forward for the 21st century.

"I have been searching for “teachings” that mean something to me, that call to my soul and speak of my indigenous land. Sam is a wonderful teacher, her passion for her work glows from her. I have never felt so at ease listening to a teacher and her study on the Pretani and their wheel of the year resonated with me and felt very natural. The wheel Sam shared with us is now turning in my practice."

Your Teacher

Sam MacLaren has devoted her life to unearthing authentic indigenous British practices, more accurately described as Seership (rather than shamanic).

Through her private tuition with Harvard Celtic scholar Sharon Paice MacLeod, a BA in Celtic Studies with the University of Wales Trinity St. David, studying Ritual & Religion in Prehistory with Oxford University, Sam is one of the premier experts on authentic indigenous practices in these isles.

"Sam is an astonishing teacher: thoughtful, supportive and intuitive on a level that I’ve never encountered before in ten years of doing other workshops and retreats. Her scholarship is impeccable, her passion is infectious and the authenticity of her teaching is absolute"
